Monday Premieres and Finales

Bones: The Secret in the Proposal
Bones struggles with her feelings after Booth refuses to marry her for good reasons. While we see Bones softer side the murder of the week is a good reason to bring in Freddy Prinze Jr.. Prinze Jr. plays a CIA agent and former colleague of Booth. Yet all I was thinking is that these two guys made out with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Sleepy Hollow: Pilot
A promising show about hunting the headless horseman quickly turns into a huge founding father-bible conspiracy show. You can also see there will be a "monster-of-the-week" along with the primary storyline. Luckily more than one person believes that all this supernatural stuff is real as several cops see the headless horseman and his head is secured. I would watch this show again but I will not be TiVoing it. Poor Clancey Brown never made it pass the 10 minute mark.

Under The Dome: Curtains
The dome has got a bad attitude and everyone finally gets all religious. Nothing gets answered but contact with the dome "builders" has begun.

Stephen King's Under The Dome

Tonight at 10PM on CBS is the premiere of Under The Dome a short series by Stephen King and Steven Spielberg, and probably a bunch of other people.

The people of a small town suddenly find themselves trapped in a bubble. How they react to this dilemma is the main part of the story while trying to figure out why is it happening is a secondary concern. This was one of Stephen King's most massive books. He also felt the story needs to be stretched out on TV and should span several seasons.

For those fans of The Simpsons Movie you may remember a similar plot but everyone involved agrees it was just a coincident. Another trapped in a fish bowl movie that I enjoyed was Dark City and may be a bit of spoiler to the book.

The book is guaranteed to be different than the series as King himself said that the book ending and reasoning would not work well on TV. Still I would wait to read the book if you have not yet. I find it better to read the book later as people tend to be disappointed with the TV/Movie versions.

The River

The River : Magus

Magus is the boat lost in the Amazon headed by some doctor of unknown degrees. This Dr Cole is also an adventurer and has a documentary show. Through clips we see the Doc and his family when they were young. There is a lot of foreshadowing leading us to think he was purposefully looking for something.

The something he is looking for seems to be magic, instead we are finding ghosts. The boat has a trapped blood drinking ghost that can be fooled by a baby's coffin. The fact everyone accepts ghosts and ignore warnings is beyond belief.

The River: Marbeley

The boat fixed the new crew of the Magus try to find the old crew. Ignoring all warning Dr. Cole sends a dragonfly to tell the new crew to get out. Even with the amazing use of dragonfly-possession to get a message through no one seems to be shocked and continues the journey. Meanwhile a ghost of a brat tries to steal a mom. Marbeley is the stuffed bear of Dr. Cole's grown son.

This show is filmed in shaking cam style that no documentary crew in real life would ever do. The people who make these shows and movies like Paranormal Activity have never seen a real documentary. Some of the best and clearest videos in the world come from documentaries.

The only people who use substandard cameras and grainy footage are fakers like Ghost Hunter or bigfoot hunters.

Also the pilot was filmed in El Yunque in Purto Rico so all the coquis and palm trees made it feel fake. Then they moved production to Hawaii. At this point you where just shouting hey isn't that where Kate hid in Lost.

Stephen King's Bag of Bones

Another Stephen King TV failure.

I missed most of it because I kept falling asleep but from what I can gather it was a ghost/curse story. It is a shame because the reason for the curse is such a powerful part but it is lost with the slow moving pace.

Pierce Brosnan does the best he can with this but without any scares there is little to work with. I guess the scenes of drowning children is meant to be shocking but if you ever been around annoying kids you have little sympathy.

This is a basically a copy of the much better Ghost Story (1981). The Bag of Bones book may have been better but I've yet to read it.

Also around Christmas come on this is a summertime mini-series.

The Walking Dead

Based on a comic book, wait don't runaway it is actually fun to watch.

I never actually read the comic book or any other comic book so I can't say if it is better or worse.

The series on it's own is good drama.

Like Resident Evil the main hero is a law enforcement person who slept through the zombie apocalypse. Hero cop is searching for his family and hopefully this show won't stretch it out too much.

What makes this zombie caper better than average are the zombies themselves. They are not always slow, they eat more meat than just humans, and they use tools. You almost feel sorry for them as they still have many human traits.

Other shows also premiering were Psych and Burn Notice. Too many one hour shows.

Halloween Results

The Simpsons Halloween episode was dull.

Castle was funny with references to Firefly and Buffy.

And that's all, very weak showing.

Ok a few talk shows got dressed up and some soaps but those really don't count.

I'm Jaded

Went to the STEAMPUNK HAUNTED HOUSE and was truly bored. I won 8 tickets and split them among family and friends. My group was less than thrilled to have actors pop out of every corner yelling and banging pipes on the floor. Granted the other group reported to me it was amusing, not scary, but fun.

Oh well, one to many slasher films when I was three left me expecting more. Either that or the cheesy special effects. Remember the Dr. Who episode The Empty Child, well they tried to do that but on a $2.00 budget.

For those not into the hip new trends Steampunk is a style of mechanizing the present and the past using steam power and gears. Kind of a what-if scenario where electricity never emerged but steam/gears become sophisticated. Sounds cool but these haunted house players left a lot to be desired.

So your remaking my childhood...

Fine then I want more candy and a TV in my room.

Wait you just remaking my favorite shows and movies, never mind.

Robert Englund has been out promoting his new movie Jack Brook: Monster Slayer and let it slip about his older productions which as far as he knows he will not take part in.

First he reveals that the newest Freddy Krueger movie will be a remake with a budget. Oh yeah Billy Bob Thorton is in line for Freddy Krueger.

Second he reveals V the great sci-fi series is being remade. The script has already been partially leaked here.

He did make the point that hardly anyone watches the original King Kong but that the remake by Peter Jackson was awful with a nice ending.

I haven't watched any of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, or other horror remakes because they look so bad.

I saw The Hills Have Eyes both remake and original on the same day. While both are B level the original is far superior.

John Boy's Wiener

Nightmares and Dreamscapes: Autopsy Room Four
Richard Thomas plays a crippled vet who can't love his girl as a man should. He then gets bit by a unknown snake and is pronounced dead. During his slow autopsy he hears and see everything. This includes his incompetent doctors. Luckily another doc realizes the mistake and they wake him up. The only else that proved he was awake was a newly raging boner.

Good episode nice to see Thomas working again on a Stephen King show.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes: You Know They Got a Hell of a Band
This one had Steven Weber playing in his fourth Stephen King show. Him and his wife get lost in the woods and end up in Rock 'n' Roll Heaven with famous dead rockers who are now evil.
In the town a day can last years and they are trapped there for life.

Stephen King Batting .500

Nightmares and Dreamscapes: Umney's Last Case
Usually William H. Macy is strong in his preformances but this one was beyond saving. A writer of bad 1930s detective novels loses his son and escapes into his own book. Stphen King did the same in the Dark Tower. His charcter then enters the real world and traps the writer in his own work.

Not the best I fell asleep.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes: The End of the Whole Mess
This one is much better. A documentary film maker in November 25, 2011 documents his last hour and what led to a massive catastrophe. He relives his life and explains how his brother lived his. After 9/11 the the younger brother played by Henry Thomas gets inspired to cure meaness. He finds a town with zero anger and uses its healing waters to drop in a volcano and bring on world peace. He succeeds with his older brothers help. The world is fine for a while then early Alzheimer's sets in. The world is turning silly and nothing can stop it. Feeling the guilt the brothers agree to a suicide pack leaving only the tape for some unknown survivor, if any, to find.

This episode was brilliant and well acted.

I can get older Daytime Dollars code if they are needed.

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: Week 1

NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES: FROM THE STORIES OF STEPHEN KING

Battleground

William Hurt plays an assassin who kills a toymaker and then gets some evil toys in return. Hurt gets the old fashioned plastic green men who spend the night trying to kill him. They after Hurt kills the troops he missed one commando carrying a nuclear device that blows him up. Great episode.

The best part of this episode is that not one word was spoken. No commercials, no dialogue and very little computer effects.

The episode was directed by Brian Henson , of Henson puppet fame. He used real men dressed in plastic costumes and it looked great. None of that computer-effects crap you see in the next episode.
This story was originally in Skeleton Crew.

Crouch End

Not as good as the first one. A couple go to England and end up in a town that is a crossway between dimensions. The husband is lost to monsters.

Lots of computer effects that looked fake.

Off Topic: I just heard that Raven-Symone will star in the remake of Adventures in Babysitting the original babysitter was Elizabeth Shue. That movie and book was one of my favorites of all my childhood and was near perfect in every way now this no talent Disney kid is going to remake it, without the original director Chris Columbus.

Nightmarish Shows

Remember tonight on TNT at 9pm EST is the premiere of NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES: FROM THE STORIES OF STEPHEN KING. It is the only show I've been waitng for this humid and sticky TV season.
Two episodes air tonight the first commercial free.
Wednesday, July 12, 9:00PM ET
Battleground TV-14-V
After murdering the owner of a toy company, a killer for hire played by William Hurt receives a package of toy soldiers in the mail, but these soldiers aren't just toying around.
Wednesday, July 12, 10:00PM ET
Crouch End TV-PG-V
Eion Bailey and Claire Forlani star in this story of a young American couple honeymooning in London who find themselves trapped in an alternate world.

The book I've been reading Dark Tower VII by Stephen King seems to be getting longer each time I pick it up. This 800+ page densly packed book is good but as some people know King can stretch a fart onto twelve pages.

Also I saw.
Rescue Me: Zombies
Zombies refers to one of the firemen who takes some sleeping pills and has a sleepwalking adventure in the city scaring and offending everyone he meets.
Tommy is stuck in four way love/lust triangle that includes Marisa Tomei.

While I still can't forgive the character Tommy after his "happy-rape" of his soon to be ex-wife you still see how he his haunted by images from his past.

Leary has made comments that he wants the show to end in a massacre , killing off most of the cast. That would be great as long as Tommy goes to because there should be some price to the way he lived his life, at least poetically.

The Quiet Time

It is the time right before I start working for the summer. It is also the days before the summer TV season start. I've been cleaning my home and resting.

In the upcoming weeks The 4400 and The Dead Zone will start and all the other Sci-Fi shows. I also have been trying new stuff on my 2 blogs. Now I'm going to finish The Dark Tower VII which I started last year, oh that reminds me Nightmare and Dreamscapes the mini-series will be on TNT starting July 12.

Freckin' Friday

Ghost Whisperer: Friendly Neighborhood Ghost
The Dead-Americans in Melindas life are getting more powerful and one even stopped the breath of a living man. Melinda seems unphased at being grabbed by strange men. But as usually she is fine and resolves everything. On a good note the Asian boy was back and lost the third-eye for ghost, the dead dog was back and her newest pet and the phantom ghost is back watching her.
Nice to see they sewn some holes on the show.

The Book Of Daniel: Temptation and Forgiveness
A priest, his drug selling daughter, his gay son, his adopted Asian son, a dead son, an alcoholic wife, a woman boss and a missing 3.2 million dollars walk in to a bar and pops some pills.
Skip to the punchline...and Jesus walks in and he's the comic relief.
A little bit of light is that Jesus said he used to talk to the priest father but stopped.
The show itself is well shot and acted with lots of New York soap and Oz actors and Neve Campbell's brother as the gay son but the show tries to hard to be edgy.

Stargate SG1: The Fourth Horseman
Still Ben Browder does nothing and the team talks sense to religious fanatics, now that is unrealistic.

Stargate Atlantis: The Hive
More evil queen aliens in a hive collective...hmmm sounds familiar.

Battlestar Galactica: Resurrection Ship
The admiral is a family killing pyscho and they have to kill her but she has killing plans of her own. Nice tense episode. Still the strongest show on the line-up. Nothing gets resolved because everything is on hold while the two Battlestars prepare to attack a Cylon "Resurrection ship" filled with hot blond robot models.

Surface is repeating Mondays at 7pm/ET on Sci-Fi. Not my picture above but seemed right to steal.

Masters Of Horror: Fair Haired Child
A hot geek girl is kidnapped and going to be sacrifced to bring back some couple's son. Well she is sacrificed but the couple is then offered up to bring the hot geek girl back and the two kids live happily ever after.
A good episode overall.

Playing Catch Up On What's Left

That 70's Show: Fun It
Donna is getting over being dumped by Eric and starts acting reckless. The gang steals a fast-food clown and then break it trying to return it. Without Kutcher or Grace this show just isn't as funny.

Alias: The Horizon
I stopped watching this but now during the final season I'm watching again. By the way there was no way they could've hidden Garner's pregnancy.
Vaughn is back in memories and dreams but big bad mama, played by Lena Olin is back for real. Mama abducted the daughter and plans to take the grandbaby.

Joey: Joey and the Tijuana Trip/Joey and the Christmas Party
A hour long episode both halves dedicated to Christmas. The first has Joey and his guy pals going to Mexico and getting drunk and married. Joey and Zach marry but it's not legal but Alex has fun with it for a while.
The second one has Alex whining about Joey until he realizes he loves her and during a classic Friends moment goes to tell her and sees her kisses someone else. Alex is so hot but since she's smart and on occassion wears glasses she is written as a big fat loser. Yeah typical sitcom crap.

Ghost Whisperer: Undead Comic
A dead comic haunts the stage and all ends well when Melinda gets involved. The story was boring and I fell asleep but I TiVoed it and saw the end again which was the best part.
After the happy ending Melinda sees the laughing ghost agian and then next to him was a ghost with no face and all black trench coat that said in a creepy voice, "I have business with you." and then both of them laugh and float away.
They are building to some sort of endgame but with such weak episodes it may not be enough to to keep me watching.
Another neat thing were all the dead comics who are semi-famous including Reginald Vel Johnson from Die Hard and Family Matters.

Masters Of Horror: Cigarette Burns
This one is by John Carpenter and involves a evil movie.
A film that has been lost for years is sought by a collector. The history of this film, Le Fin Absolut du Monde, is mired with death and violence.
The film is about some evil people who have a real angel and film it being dewinged and tortured. The spilled blood of the angel transfers beyond the film and reflects all the sins of the watcher making them act upon them.
Mentally creepy and very violent, lots of upclose death.

This Is Christmas Cheer

The Dead Zone: A Very Dead Zone Christmas
Johnny Smith helps a Santa with amnesia find his stolen bag. The kids who stole the bag are homeless and need help. Johnny's girlfriend is also a psychic and sees ghost who helps the little boys.
It was a cute episode that worked out nicely, the boys find their father and Santa turns out to be an actor best of all the dinner wasn't burned.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Secret Santa
Monk solves a murder for Christmas, not especially moving. This show lost it's spark.

Ghost Whisperer: Shadow Boxer
A mom protects her family who is breaking apart. Not a Christmas episode I think they're in summer over there. I'm trying but the sweetness of this show is a bit too much.

Masters of Horror: The Deer Woman
After a real bad one two weeks ago and a great political one last week this one by John Landis was just OK.
John Landis the genius behind An American Werewolf In London tells a tale of a half deer half woman killer. There is no reason given for deer woman's murderous ways or resolution at the end.
The cool part was when the officer tried to explain that these things happen, "Remember in 1981 when a new species of wolf killed all those people in London."
Yeah and not Christmas related in any way.

Friday Shows

Masters Of Horror: Jenifer
Steven Weber plays a detective who stops a man from butchering a woman. He sees the woman and she has a face of a monster but the body of Girl Gone Wild coed. Everyone is scared of her but that doesn’t stop Weber from nailing her. She then eats his cat and he does her again, then she eats the neighbor girl and he sells her to a freak show. He finds his son half eaten in the refrigerator. Even after that he still gets one off with her. He takes her and goes to the country and works as a clean-up man in a store. She eats one more kid and Weber is about to kill her when he gets killed by a cliché just like the guy before him and the circle starts again.

Happy Halloween Little Ones

Halloween this year was warm and pleasant it’s a shame it’s not a national holiday.
I saw Hellraiser: Hellseeker it’s the 6th of 8 Hellraiser. It brings back the original female victim but there is little fear or action or Pinhead goodness.
Masters Of Horror: Incident On And Off Mountain Road
This is the first of the weekly series it was a bit gory not to scary. A young woman driving in the middle of nowhere gets in an accident. She seeks help only to get kidnapped by some nameless monster.
She flashes back to her life and training with her demented boyfriend. We see that she is stronger then most victims after experiencing a horrible incident with ex. She overcomes all her hurdles and continues with her life slightly madder.

Three Things to Know

First is the Halloween episodes.
Two and a Half Men had a nice and funny surreal episode with a witch and curses.
Batman the latest animated series on the Cartoon Network had Batman vs. Dracula, it was kinda cool.
Night Stalker was nothing special but they did have the Happy Tree Friends featured in the episode.
George Lopez tried to bring back the trick in trick or treat which nice but not funny.

As for channels AMC they are having a collection of scary & monster movies, here’s s short list…
Sunday, October 30, 2005

The best of which is An American Werewolf in London I would recommend the uncut version because it deserve to be watched like the original theater version.

On Showtime they are having a mini-marathon of horror movies starting the 28th.

On non-Halloween related stuff,
Surface: Episode 6 was great the showed the monsters poop and they also show a second species. Plus they killed off two main characters Doc Cirko and his assistant. They DNA key is, agkagk not sure what that means.
Prison Break: The Old Hand, Scofield is 3 weeks in and 17 days ‘til the escape. The Vice-President is the one ordering the killing and she’s a woman, alos the rest of the Scofields are dead or faking it just to survive.

Thirdly is news from TV first George Takei came out the closet who’ll be next Ricky or Clay, sorry Claymates.
In General Hospital an 11 year old girl “LuLu” was recast into a 22 year old whore. I understand soaps often advance ages but enough this is ridiculous.
