ABC Family

ABC Family, Channel #49

Lots of family friendly reruns. A handful of not so family friendly original shows.

Kyle XY was the show that put this station on the radar of most TV viewers but it was abruptly canceled. Their new anchor shows are Greek and The Secret Life of An American Teenager. I've watched bits and pieces of each and they seem well made. If I didn't cut back on TV I'd be watching both.

The station does like pushing the envelope on new shows but lacks the loyalty or strength to hold out through low ratings.

Most of their new line-up consists of transforming recent teen movies into TV series.

On big drawback is The 700 Club. A religious program that is forced to be carried on the station due to what I can only assume was a deal with the devil, details are sketchy. I've watched this often hate filled hour because some of what is said is so ridiculous it should be a comedy, while other segments resemble well made documentaries.

Fallen Finale

Fallen: Someone Always Has to Die
The rogue angel Azazel turns out to be a bigger threat than The Redeemer. Aaron learns he can send anyone to heaven even sinners.

Fallen: Il Gran Rifiuto
We found out that Lucifer is Aaron's daddy. He seemed pleasant and wants redemption. Guess what, Lucifer lied he is not a nice guy. Lucifer has one Hell of a pad, literally. Apparently hell is a choice for everyone except Lucifer. He tries to convince Aaron to redeem him but Aaron refuses.

After fighting his daddy Aaron sends him to hell, I mean deeper into hell. The Fallen agreed to stop the killing and Aaron can finally go home.

Overall not bad but a bit slow. It lacked the heart the original movie had.

Fallen but not Forgotten

Fallen: The Time of the Redeemer
When we last left Aaron Corbett he was running from angels and struggle to accept his role as The Redeemer, a nephilim who can forgive any sin from any being.

He's still running a year later and he has become an expert in Redeeming. He has magic tattoos all over his body each one for an angel he Redeemed. The problem is that he's misses his old life and repressed so much that when he does blow he freaks normal people out.

Fallen: Mysterious Ways & All That
Aaron meets a creepy professor that tells him The Redeemer may be evil. Professor then shows him another nephilim he is holding hostage. It turns out the girl-nephilim is Vilma Rodriguez the pretty girl from the original movie. Her family was hunted down and was tricked by the prof., who is part of a secret group.

Know free Vilma, Aaron, and recently paroled angel are off to see the Light-Bringer.

Oh yes Gabriel the talking dog is back, he's my favorite.

Kyle and John Settled Down

John From Cincinnati: His Visit, Day Six
More astral projecting from John but not enough to make you dizzy. Palaka nearly dies but the doc saves him. The doc also has problems looming from the hospital and Cissy is trying to help him.

Shaun and Butchie have a heart to heart and end up surfing together with John. No major reveals just the family getting closer.

Kyle XY: Free to be You and Me
Much like John FC this episode was very bonding-mushy. There was dating, dancing, and kissing.

By kissing I mean hot teen girl on girl action. I once thought ABC Family was all about the Puritan-Christian love because they have the 700 Club but from what I understand the 700 Club was forced on them. They are basically Fox for tweens. This episode handle the preachy everyone is equal stuff well.

There was a school dance where only straight couples were allowed so after some PMS issues with Hilary the gang helps Andy form an all-inclusive dance. There was a few incidents but nothing major. The best part again was when Hillary and Lori kissed to make some point that escapes me at the moment.

Kyle XYXX

Kyle XY: The Prophet

Kyle is with his creator which is a man who spent 13 months in the whom, eugenics is fun.

Adam Bailyn, the guy who gave his mom an extra 4 months of bloat, was a unique experiment by Einsteins friends. He then felt sad and lonely so he created an artificial whom to stretch gestation to 16 years.

Feeling bad about all the failed experiments he left the group and was being hunted. He has powers to control his body which allows him to change the electro-magnetic parts of his body to move water and other objects.

Oh yes as I predicted on the last episode there is a girl experiment walking around.

It was a good episode even though they killed Adam before telling Kyle of his bio-parents. He did warn Kyle that the more you use your mind-powers the weaker your body gets.

The episode is called The Prophet because that was what a secret society called Kyle.

Also Fallen is coming back in August.

Kyle XY

Kyle XY: Memory Serves
Kyle goes to college to research the dead professor and finds a picture of himself in 1985. Althuogh it is not possible he traces the picture to a box of stuff from a missing person and finds a secret location in the wods.
Foss finds himand tells him to back off for his new family's sake. Unfortunately the men inside the secret location saw Kyles face and recognize him.

The show is moving fast.

Fog of Mystery Clearing?

Kyle XY: He Got Game
Kyle becomes a basketball all-star and learns teamwork. He stands by Declan after an injury, Lori stands by her best friend and Dad stands up for his son.

It was a very mushy episode Josh had some great one liners. At the end Kyle has a dream/memory about the professor who got killed and Foss is shown as the killer.

These are the last episodes of the season and we see Kyle has a past and Foss maybe trying to help him.

M-O-O-N That Spells Moon

Monk: Mr. Monk, Private Eye
Natalie forces Monk to become a real Private Investigator witha n office straight out of 1938. Monk's first case goes from a simple fender bender to a murder.
The captain actually figures this case out and also has a new lady friend.

This looks to be a turning point in the show. They made a big deal about how everyone had moved on and their lives are in change. I'm not sure where they're going but it seems like a step-up.

Three Moons Over Milford: Pilot
An asteroid hits the moon and breaks it in three big pieces and millions of smaller chunks. This all happened off camera. The best part of a disaster show and they don't show it.

The series stars Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Davis is a mom of two. She has a rich husband who has gone missing. The town of Milford reflects the rest of the world where everyone has gone hippie. Realizing that anyone of the million chunks of the moon may kill all life on Earth humanity is doing what they want.
Men are marrying women in dresses, old people are riding motorcycles and all manners of hippie wacky stuff. The focus is on the Davis family the daughter is into wiccan and burns down the school casting a spell. The son is a hot-nerd who is trying to do his adult neighbor lady.

Lots of celebrity guest stars will be appearing in the next few episodes. This show is a better more simple version of Eureka.

I noticed ABC Family has a new tagline.

ABC Family a new kind of Family.

Seriously ABC Family?

Fallen
Aaron Corbett, an orphaned 18 year old, finds out he's a Nephilim. Which is a half human half angel. If that wasn't bad enough he is the redeemer a special Nephilim that can restore fallen angels allowing them to re-enter the other world.
Aaron has cool adopted parents an autistic adopted brother and a spunky dog. He quickly learns the beneifts of being angelic. He can talk in every language including animal. His dog won't shut up after an dog-meets-car accident he learns how to heal. His guide is another fallen angel played by the great Tom Skerritt.
Now the bad part about being a half breed is that other angels are out to kill him and anyone who has contact with him.
There were some amazing battles and Aaron must accept his new life and leave his family.

I thought this was a series but it is a one time movie with a six hour conclusion coming out in the Summer of 2007. There also is some interactive part online , also I can't get the page to open, but I probably won't bother playing.

ABC Family is really spending some big bucks on these fantasy shows that are not quite kid friendly. I like that.
Next up is Three Moons Over Milford which looks like a Picket Fences with a broken moon.
