Last week was the lowest rated week in network TV history. This does not factor in cable.
Now why is this...hmmm...oh yes reality shows. Enough already real TV fans don't like reality they want escapism to a well scripted fantasy world.

The networks cancel shows like Surface and Invasion and Still Standing and then are mad when they have no loyal viewers.

Remember no one saw Seinfeld the first season. I'm forced to watch Rescue Me and Lucky Louie just to see some kind of comedy on TV.

Nightmares & Dreamscapes: Week 1

NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES: FROM THE STORIES OF STEPHEN KING

Battleground
William Hurt plays an assassin who kills a toymaker and then gets some evil toys in return. Hurt gets the old fashioned plastic green men who spend the night trying to kill him. They after Hurt kills the troops he missed one commando carrying a nuclear device that blows him up. Great episode.

The best part of this episode is that not one word was spoken. No commercials, no dialogue and very little computer effects.

The episode was directed by Brian Henson , of Henson puppet fame. He used real men dressed in plastic costumes and it looked great. None of that computer-effects crap you see in the next episode.

Crouch End
Not as good as the first one. A couple go to England and end up in a town that is a crossway between dimensions. The husband is lost to monsters.

Lots of computer effects that looked fake.


Off Topic: I just heard that Raven-Symone will star in the remake of Adventures in Babysitting the original babysitter was Elizabeth Shue. That movie and book was one of my favorites of all my childhood and was near perfect in every way now this no talent Disney kid is going to remake it, without the original director Chris Columbus.

The book I've been reading Dark Tower VII by Stephen King seems to be getting longer each time I pick it up. This 800+ page densly packed book is good but as some people know King can stretch a fart onto twelve pages.

Rescue Me: Zombies
Zombies refers to one of the firemen who takes some sleeping pills and has a sleepwalking adventure in the city scaring and offending everyone he meets.
Tommy is stuck in four way love/lust triangle that includes Marisa Tomei.

While I still can't forgive the character Tommy after his "happy-rape" of his soon to be ex-wife you still see how he his haunted by images from his past.

Leary has made comments that he wants the show to end in a massacre , killing off most of the cast. That would be great as long as Tommy goes to because there should be some price to the way he lived his life, at least poetically.

TV Surfing Gone Bad

I've been watching such crap that I would never watch if I had a night time job or if the networks would start giving goood shows. The only reason I started watching the 3 shows below is because I accidently caught the first episode now I can't stop.

Kyle XY: The Lies That Bind
Kyle learns to lie from his family, at least that's the message I got. We also see a new ability he can leap from buildings in a single bound. The mom starts putting his puzzles together and knows he is somehow invovled in a murder.

Treasure Hunters: The teams seeks messages from the past.
The Brown family is down one man after a torn muscle, damn gravity. All the other teams are doing good but the Geniuses are about to leave one of their own behind because he his horribly out of shape.

Lucky Louie: Control
Louie's wife controls his eating habit and it stresses him until she sees him eat and that gives her worse stress.
Luckily there is no nudity this week.

One thing I noticed about this show is all the prices or money discussed is unrealistic. The show seems like it is stuck in the 1980s the apartment is too cheap and the grocery bills are low. I guess that was the last time Louie CK had to worry about money.

USA, USA ,USA Network!

I've been watching the USA network lately because there is nothing else on and they repeat their shows later in the night.

Monk: Mr. Monk and the Actor
The season premiere had lots of guest stars and some wacky storyline. Monk is not getting better with his OCD and they still won't move closer to find out who killed his wife.

Psych: Pilot
A man who was trained by his cop father to have a photgraphic memory uses his ability to catch criminals for the reward money. The catch is that he has to fake being a psychic to be taken seriously.

Oh yeah and his best friend is black and just follows him around for no good reason.

The 4400: Graduation Day
Isabelle pursues her boyfriends tormentors with deadly results and Tom tells her "I was told to kill you, but I'm not going to." Blah, blah, blah less talk more action.

The Dead Zone: Article of Faith
Racism and religion get to together and results in murder.

The World Keeps Turning

Emmy winning Benjamin Hendrickson from As The World Turns fame died in his Huntington home on Saturday.

The death was an apparent suicide. Hendrickson was still depressed after the death of mother from cancer in 2003. The storyline of his on screen duaghter dying seemed to make his depression worse and he killed himself with a single gun shot to the head.

I have been watching Hal Munson on this soap for over 20 years. He was an excellent actor and I always wanted to see him in a major motion picture. Here is one of his quotes, "To my mom, who scrimped and saved to send me to Juilliard to study the classics - I'm sorry," it was from his daytime Emmy acceptence speech.

With some soap actors you can tell that they hated being in such a lowly role, you can tell their frustration from not moving on. Hendrickson was one of those.

One thing I hope is that he is not replaced by Randolph Mantooth, who replaced him before. Honor his legacy by killing of the character because if he is just replaced then his suicide will seem justified.

Windfall: Money Changers
Karma is coming back to everyone big time.
Sonny, the woman who lied her way to $19 million, gets shot and must rely on an old friend for help.
Frankie realizes both her parents are scummy and wants to run away with Damien but he has fallen for his wife and dumps her. Poor Frankie is all alone.

Meanwhile Zoë turns up dead and Sean and Tally sleep together over it. The killers are Russian and then the police bust into Damien's hotel room and arrest his wife in connection of the murder.

Finally it is getting interesting.

The 4th of July

Damn straight better recognize fool!

I'll see what I will do but most likely I'll do something the 5th of July. I have a slightly off-center view of the Empire State Building and the Macy's Firework display from my firescape and windows.
Yeah I'll also watch it on TV maybe I'll drag the TV to the firescape.

The 4400: Gone:Part II
Maia is gone but still haunting everyones dream. Using Alana's dream powers Tom and Diana remember Maia but Diana is so heart broken she stays in the dream world.
Tom calls the future people by trying to kill himself. The future people sent the 5 missing kids to the 1800s but agreed to bring them back only if Tom accomplished a secret mission. Tom agrees, the mission is to kill Isabelle with a future syringe.

Throughout the episode they kept calling it The 4400 but if 5 of them were erased then wouldn't it change to The 4395.

A cool part is when Marco researched the 1800-Maia he mentions that they had moon colonies and synthetic-petroleum. Meaning putting the 5 kids in the past advanced mankind by hundreds of years.

The Dead Zone: Panic
Johnny Smith must save a neighbor boy and his own family when some mafia guys find a witness in his neighborhood. No surprise he saves them all.

John Doe for kids

Kyle XY: Pilot
This is a kids show for ABC Family which is why I wasn't going to watch it Mondays at 8 or 9 pm. Then ABC gave it it last night on their real network. So I started watching it.

To my surprise it was quite good. They have more adult themed issues then I would've given ABCFamily credit.

Kyle XY wakes up naked in the middle of a forest covered in goo, like John Doe minus the goo. He narrates everything for us and all the experiences he has are new.

By the time he reaches a town he gets arrested and thrown into a juvenile detention center. He learns how to eat and pee and makes enemies. They give him the name John Doe.

A doctor is called in and she takes him into her home for a while despite the fact the teenager is unstable and has no belly button. Nicole Trager the mom falls for the boy quickly, the daughter who is sleeping with her boyfriend and drinking becomes close to him, the son thinks he is an alien and the father doesn't care much for him.

Here is the most uncomfortable part of the show.

All in all it was a good pilot episode as long as they don't make this show too kid safe it may be good. Remeber that is how the ruined Happy Days.
