Broadcast Delayed

Finally saw Happy Endings last Friday after it was not shown the week before because of coverage of the Boston bombers chase. The whole coverage lasted a few days and ninety-five percent was useless.

This is another reason TV is dying because the soaps and daytime shows were interrupted five or six times just to say nothing new was happening in Boston. I would rather wait until all the facts are in before getting any updates. My knowing that some Russian bomber's mom is nuts makes no difference to the case.

I would rather laugh watching the best show that is about to be canceled.

Adam Carolla vs The Unfunny

Adam Carolla made several jokes about women and the homosexual community. They were jokes and intended to mix truth with humor. Unfortunately media whores like Perez Hilton and half of The Talk staff used their best parasitic tendencies to try and make it a big deal.

Sheryl Underwood in the same breath calls Adam's wife a bitch without a hint of shame. Great for a daytime talk show when the child of Mrs. Carolla can watch and wonder why some unfunny woman is calling her mom a bitch. Julie Chen talked about women who gather and make jokes while guys don't laugh. She thinks it is because the guys are jealous not even thinking for a second that maybe men just don't find their brand of humor funny.

Any who has followed Carolla for the last 30 years knows he is a good man of honor who would stand up for any person being bullied or offended. He is also a comedian who will make jokes about anything and everything. Seriously listen to old Loveline episodes and even the worst tragedies can solicit humor.

Parasites like Sharon Osbourne and Perez Hilton who create nothing original and just live off the drug addicts in their lives should take a step back and see how the world really works.  These two combined had made fun and straight out lied about many celebrities and facts to the point they had to issue official apologies.

I would add they spent the next segment saying how women are better liars since the are psychologically more developed. Which they all accepted as true. BUT WAIT. If that is true then men are more immature and find more things funny that would make Carolla's statement about female comics also true.

Holly Robinson and Leah Remini were funnier, keep Aisha and get rid of the rest.

Not Getting the Whole Picture

Not having an HDTV you miss a few things. Things like sharp images, every wrinkle, and side jokes.

For the most parts networks have been good to consider us old fashion TVs user when filming but it looks like they are starting to update.

Check it out my favorite news channel is now fully HD and I cannot see the full time or temperature.

Is it 28 or 98?
Am I going have to look out the window? The horror.

Still I have no plans to upgrade so I suggest the networks adjust to me.

Special Effects

I was never confused when I saw Superman fly on TV.
It was obvious that cars do not explode when in light crashes.
I knew the Dukes of Hazard and Kinght Rider went threw dozens of cars because all that jumping kills the transmission.
I know that once a camera is turned on, the subject being filmed changes in response and is no longer reality.
I know it is possible to erase and change anything that is recorded.

I accept official statements because I am sane and conspiracies are nuts.

Apparently the world has forgotten these common sense statements and begs for more proof and then dismiss the proof given.

Hopefully we reached a peak of skepticism and go back to the days that if someone is smarter than you than they know better. Your conspiratorial opinion is not needed and further more is not valid. Not every point needs a counterpoint.

Proof not needed.

The Sheen is from Flop Sweats

He's a wife beater.
He's a drug addict.
He believes in conspiracies like those involving 9/11 and vaccines.

In other words he is either psychotic or evil. Doesn't matter he should be shunned and punished and should go into therapy.

Low Price TV For Sale

No I'm not selling my TV. Just saw hundreds of new televisions for sale over the Thanksgiving holiday. 40 inch name brand sets for $400 or less. As incredible as they were I still did not buy any.

The state of TV shows these days does not justify it. I was looking at $2,000 SLR cameras more than TVs. I guess this blog may transform to a photo blog.

Best of November:
Dexter, Weeds, The Big C, Chuck, Law & Order: SVU

Foxed Up

Since I have Cablevision I have no Fox channels, which adds up to 10 channels.

Fox has a waiver in NYC and owns 2 broadcast channels (5 & 9). This would be illegal but that didn't stop Fox.
Now they are asking for twice as much money for these channels and are holding the viewers down by refusing to broadcast.

Luckily/unluckily the Yankees are not in the World Series and all Fox shows are repeat so no one is paying attention.

What I found extremely funny is that TiVo deleted all the channels from their guide 2 days after the blackout. So not only can't I watch Fox but I have no idea what Fox is showing.

Oh well more room for other channels. Since Fox was also blocking Cablevision internet access to Fox shows online.

Reviews: Summer so far

Summer has been better than normal.
TV on the other hand has never been worse.

Royal Pains, Eureka, Psych, Warehouse 13, Wipeout have all returned without a bang. I mention only the shows I watch.
Sci-Fi as been particularly weak this season.

Haven a new Sci-Fi channel show based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid is not good at all.

True Blood has been the only bright spot. That and repeats of ABC comedies I didn't see last year.

All the "premium" movies that made hundreds of millions in the box office are awful. Honestly I haven't seen a great movie in years.

I'm having more fun taking pictures of stuff being filmed around NYC than actually watching the shows.

TV is abandoning me

CBS is axing five other shows, the majority of which, like "Whisperer," have female leads. Julia-Louis Dreyfus' "New Adventures of Old Christine," "Cold Case," starring Kathryn Morris, and the freshman Jenna Elfman sitcom "Accidentally On Purpose

Missing Scenes

I'm so busy I missed Glee and South Park.

What is worse is that they are not repeating South Park and I can't even find it online.

I've been missing shows left and right but currently I'm so tired I don't really care.
Crap I'm writing in my Facebook voice.

Yes, I Heard

But I'm actively avoid anymore death posts. I was a fan of Boner, that one Corey, and Mr. Graves and will be a fan of the next few who will die but it was getting a bit morbid last year.

Brittany Murphy

Damn shame.

I've been watching her on TV since she was a little kid on Almost Home, The Torkelsons revamped.
She was a great actress and singer, full of personality and a sense of humor.

She died at the age of 32 of a "cardiac arrest". Anyone with any medical knowledge will know that is not the whole story.

2009 has been tough for Hollywood.

While I Was Out

Apparently the non-NYC part of America was fascinated by a boy thought to be on a balloon floating to Narina? Oz? Boulder, CO? or some other mythical place.

Now while a was in class studying aerodynamics my TiVo recorded many shows in the afternoon, none of which carried that story.

Here is why I'm dumbfounded by the dumbness. A helium balloon of about 20'x5'x3' (the tapered edge and sewn sections does not allow for a cylindrical volume formula) could never hold a boy of about 50 lbs. Simple math available online could have solved this.

20'x5'x3' = 300 cubic feet very low

You need 15.87 cubic feet of helium to lift 1 pound.

50 pound needs at least 793.67 cubic feet to lift, and at least 900 cubic feet very high to really fly freely.

Oh yeah plus MYLAR rips with ease and could never hold a moving child!

Please people a little more science will not hurt you.

Thieves

I always despised the internet for the rampant stealing (also political lies and conspiracy theories). Music, movies, book, software, and original writing all free to trade if lack morals.

Now my stuff has been stolen a time or two but mostly copy and paste stuff. This is going a bit far:

This loser (girl my as.),From this site,Posted this and twisted some words around,

From my original,

cinemax, Channel #85

Lots of popular movies but they have a deserving reputation for peddling softcore p0rn. At this moment they are having Busty Cops: Protect and Serve! the plot makes no sense and they are not effective cops but then again I maybe missing the point(s).
No need to link to thief but now I know how the original authors of Harry Potter and The Lion King must have felt.

It's a Start

So with both TVs out of commission and a new semester worth of books and supplies on the way I choose to win a TV.

I've had decent luck with contest and tried to get something good with this Subway Scrabble game.

Well who would of thought I won on my second try.
No money.
No TV.
Nope. Not even a sandwich.

Winner of:
A 3 month membership to Club Pogo estimated value $8.99. Really, on that site you have to play almost everyday to possibly qualify to win more prizes. Now that I'm busy and with no free time.

My contest luck has always been off.

From TV Guide I entered to win 240 DVDs of the best shows. Instead I got the "Black Oil" edition of the X-Files. I got through 3 episodes and shelved it. No Black Oil either, very disappointing.

I entered a TV Squad contest to win an iPod, instead got $100 cash. Not bad but I really wanted the iPod since I don't buy music this would give me a reason to.

I won a radio contest the gave a special edition Star Trek DVD but it was never sent and instead I got tickets to some movie that I couldn't attend since I had classes.

This is sort of a pity post but feel free to rant on your contest-near-win in the comments.

Is it Summer?

Cover of "Noise"

My TV is off after watching the horrible Tim Robbins movie Noise. Also I just finished listening to Loveline online which is part of my daily ritual.

Everything is off and except for the delivery guys dropping off baked goods around the local stores no one is outside.

It has been incredibly cool this summer and near perfect weather for the last few days yet no one is outside.

I recall 15 years ago the streets of Brooklyn was crawling with real noise and robberies and everything from music to murder, attempted murder at least.

Now all day and night there is not one gang of kids or loud girls, no drunken parties or group of cars cruisin'. The few times I've seen groups of one time troublemakers they are huddled around cell phones not noticing I'm carrying a bag of quarters or holding a decent camera. Of course I'm not looking for trouble but has the cell phone and internet done what TV could never do.

Got kids so fat and lazy they are no longer a threat.

I've actually seen a group of teens using laptops on the street and subway and no one even looks at them funny.

Summer meant one thing noise and adventure, I planned months in advance to avoid all noise and adventures. It seems now I'm a risk taker if I want to see an event live rather than online. Talking about a new exhibit at the MET someone told me "yeah I saw that it was pretty cool." I thought that was something since the exhibit hasn't opened,"Did you get to go to preview event". She responded "No, I saw it online it's better because you avoid the crowds and ticket cost."(Tickets are suggested fees so if you want to pay $0.25 it's fine)

Really? A 2,000 year old gold statue is best seen online from your 10 inch laptop, while texting and listening to your iPod.

It's a draw a nicer quieter city but dumber citizens.

Government Controlled TV

Rooftop television antenna. It is actually thr...Image via WikipediaThe big deal that has been hitting the air waves is the switch from an analog signal to a digital signal. Television broadcast will no longer carry analogs making the antenna useless unless you have a converter box. Well guess what most people don't and now the Congress wants a delay.

A few problems surface.

  1. Many people don't have cable but have new TVs that support digital and just don't realize it.
  2. Not everyone cares about TV and will be fine if the TV goes dead.
  3. Government aid has run out thanks to internet thieves getting $40 gift cards just for fun and not using them.
I'm all for the switch only because the delay is annoying.

Pros :
  • Signal is usually clearer.
  • More channels can come through.
Cons:
  • When interference comes through it freezes both audio and visual.
  • Weak signals don't come in at all.
  • New towers means relocating existing antennae to catch the signal.
  • TV is dying why bother.
I have a both cable and a converter box so I'm safe just in case cable is cut I still can get my fix of TV. I still own an old fashioned TV and have no plans to upgrade until the price drops to something decent.

Obama Interuptus
So my first full week off and I sit down to watch some morning TV and this guy keeps breaking in with not so Special Reports about his 23rd cabinet pick. Being from NY I want my "SPECIAL REPORTS" to be full of collapses, fires, or floods not some soon-to-be President and his hope for tomorrow. Where is Nader and his special reports?

Appallin' Palin
This chick got some nerve. Everything she criticized Hillary for doing she is doing now. Even after delaying an arrest of a known drug users, that she pals around with, she still is in the news with her backwards views. It has nothing to do with Rep or Dem she has no sense and reminds me of every reality show chick ever.

CES
Some tech show where 3D is being hyped.
While all the toys are cool the signal interference and government regulation will make the finally in-store product half as nice. Is the Government to blame? NO. These designs are never meant to work in the field, permanent BETA is a trick done by companies. Everyone stop with the -1 cm thick TVs and use that digital signal that is 300 times better than the internet and let me scroll the net/web with my TV and remote.

Oh yeah Grey's Anatomy was dumb I hope they're giving Izzie a brain tumor because everything else would kill the show.

TV is educational. If you can't learn something everyday your box is broken.
